Just cool blog

Strike = Positive/Negative

We were talking about a STRIKE in our English lesson. A strike can be a positive or a negative. While we were reading the book, the mentioned the word strike and I am going to talk about the situation whice Esperanza was in.

If I was in Esperanza’s situation, I would not strike becuase I don’t want to loose my job and loose my house. If I strike than I might send back to my own country where it is really hard to get a job. It is better to have a house than nothing. Maybe the house has not got a toilet or a sink, I would still want ti live in this house…!!

William III & Mary II

William III & Mary II

William III (Google Image)   Mary II (Google Image)

In History lessons today, Mrs. Gould gave us a person that we have to reserch for and answer the questions. I got told to do William III and Mary II and now I’m going to write the paragraphs about them.

William III was born in 1650. He was a prince of Orange, son of William and Mary Stuart (daughter of Charles I).  Mary II was born in 1662. She was a daughter of James II and Anne Hyde. They married in London, 17th November when Mary aged 15 and William aged 17. They had no children at all.

Mary always love William but he never could do as same as her and as much as she does. She wished to give her rights to the throne in choice of her husband. From that, William was in hold of the throne and Mary became a queen. She died of smallpox in 1694 and William became a target of Jacobite plots. William died in 1702 being thrown from his horse.

William III of Orange was a prince of Holland. He brought England, Ireland and Scotland together under one crown through the ‘Bloodless Revolution’. This ended any attack from England in the Anglo-Dutch wars and started to change the world trade from Holland to England and later on, UK of Great Britain. This is why the William III was important to history.

The portrayed of William III and Mary II shows that they are powerful from the cloths, skin colour and the background. It definitely shows that they are in a high class. Because they were king and a queen they have all the fancy cloths and the skin colour is really white like plain paper. In William III’s portrayed, it has a crown what the King use to have it. He has laces that were really expensive in olden days.

It was really hard to understand and write the paragraphs. I needed help from my dad to understand but I still don’t get it all. It was interesting to know how the connections of William III Mary II.

Let’s experience of the poor!!!

Today, Our class experienced the poor in the school: sweping, washing cloths and cooking. All by our selves doing our own things. I am going to  answer those questions what Mr.Raisdana asked us to do.

1. How did you feel about this kind of work before you started? How have your feelings changed?

When I first saw these kind of work that I had to do, I thought it was easy and fun. But when I did those works I felt really tired and annoying and sticky from the salty sweat. Now I realized that cleaning mades or my mum, I know how they feel when they had to do these stuff. My mum always says she doesn’y wants to do the cleaning or cooking.I think I understand… But I quite enjoyed cooking though.

2. What did you learn about yourself while doing this kind of work? Was it easy? Was it difficult?

It was difficult while I was doing the work. It made me sweaty, sticky and boiling!! The cleaning, cooking and sweping, I did it sometimes when I was in my antie’s house to help my grandma but it was still difficult. It makes people don’t want to do it anymore.

3. How did you feel while doing this work? Did you enjoy it? Were you proud? Were you embarrassed? Why?

I felt embarrassed abit because the real cleaning mans were laughing at us and saying something. Also they were staring at us too like we were a strange people. I think they were curious that all the student in year 8 were doing the cleaning, sweping and cooking. As in nomal, we were just playing basketball and table tennis; we didn’t care what the cleaning mans were doing. I also enjoyed because alots of friends were doing with the other. Loud and lazy while we were doing our works. I absolutely enjoyed today!!!

I always told by mum to help her with the cleaning(Vacuum) once a week. I get annoyed by that when my mum starts to call me really gently (Usually shouting and all!) and that means ‘can you do the vaccum for me?’. I sometimes tried to get out saying ‘sorry, i have tons of homework’ but I am doing the vacuum every week…! It is really hard and tiring even you did 100times, thats what the womans power for.

A right or a privilege?

Today, the book says is school a right or a privilege? and we were talking about it. I’m going to right my opinion that the school is a right or a privilege.

I can’t really decide that school is a right or a privilege but if I need to pick one than I’ll pick a privilege. A lot of countries they might say the school is a right however, a country such as Africa, they may have an oppertunity to gain education but millions of children live without any form of school. Since they can’t afford the coast and in many cases the government does not surpport a school system.

But many countries like UK, Korea or America, their government support the education by providing schools.                                                                               My experince of school in Korea was that the school is a right, it is essential to go and learn more things. They might think that if we do not educated in a such way like we do now, than most of children grows up in bad ways by doing some terrible action: Murder, kidnap, taking drugs ect … thats the reason i think that we must have to go to school in Korea.

Because that the school is a privilege, that doesn’t mean that the children can not have education. If their parents wants or can, than their parents can provide a education for the children.

The quote

When we read the book (Esperanza rising) there were lots and lots of quote that touched my heart. I’m going to write a quote that I like.

The rich take care of rich and the poor take care of those who have less than what they have.”

In my point of view that this quote explains to me is that the rich people take care about them selves and the poor people take care about the people who have less money and more poor life than them. In a one sentence the rich people don’t care about the poor peole or different class from them, they just don’t care. If you have lots of money, almost everybody don’t have their conscience. Some of the people who educated really well who is rich but there is not many.

On the other hand, the poor people care about who have less than them. Because i think that they know how it feels and it feels absolutely painful, thats why the poor people help the people who have less than them. If i was poor person, I don’t want more people to be feeling painful like rubbing salt in a wound. Thats why i think the poor people helps even more poor than them.

If someone has really big things like money, they do not have a really important things conscience. There is a huge gap between them.

The Poor

In school we were talking about Esperaza rizing book. When Esperanza became poor, we talked about what the poor is and we need to  about the poor. Now I am going to talk about the poor.

When I was in Australia, I went to Perth and the poor people were showing their talent to raise money.  Most of the poor people’s talent were to do about music or gymnastics. Whether its not good or not, if the autions claped than they raised money. Person I can remember was a man standing still painted his face and body for more than 4 hours in the hot sunny day. Last year,I  went to Perth and a man was risking his life and doing gymnastick with the audions. He did with the small hula-hoop and went to the stairs and jumped throgh the hula-hoop. On the ground, there was just a thin carpet which if you fall down, you can brake your leg. Even 12~15 years old girls and boys were perfoming their talents.

I gave them money and they looked like they were very happy. They didn’t look like the people who takes drugs or alcohol.

Grabing things in desperate!

When Esperanza’s house was on fire, she had to grab an important things she would take with her, and i am going to tell you waht i would take.house on fire

If my house is in fire and i have to grab the things that i want to pack,  i would take my photographs because i can look back what i’ve done before and sometimes it take me into that time like in the timemachine with my imagination. When i am really tired and get into a sad mood, than i can look back to the album and get more energy.

Secondly, i would garb my letters and cards. I got alot of lettewrs from my friend and my cousin. thy gave me to keep ot forever and it is very important to me. One of my Best-Best friend that we haven’t fight for 4 years. also my cousin, she writes me a letter when i am far away.

Lastly, i would take my dolls because my grandma sent me once a year from England to Korea, but not now, i am old enough to not get that dolls i guess. when i was young, i was scaredby that doll while i’m sleeping. It is the one that my grandma gave it to me. It look like blond hair, mixed pink and white coloured face and little girl from ‘Little red riging hood’ however, the colour of the dress is green and blue. At night, i sometimes get frightened by it because she look like a wempier who wants blood! But she is a sweet cute little girl.

For the teddybear, he stayed with me for 9 years together my aged 3 until now. That teddybear is the one of the doll i can remember that i had it when i was young. teddybear has brown body with white face like a cooked bread and his nose is like he is alive, very moist nose.

This is the things i would take just for now but as i get older, it might be little change. I put it the object i would take. That is not meaning i won’t take my parents and my dog, i just left them out because they are my 1st treasure everybody would take their parents anyway. Basic alive person and a animal!

If i loose these things, i would be very upset and disappointed. As frustrated and sad as Esperanza when her father died. Like an heartbroke with in little pieces.

English- Esperanza Rising

Esperanza and Miguel can not marry because there in different classes. Esperanza was a  rich little girl and Miguel was a housekeeper’s son therfore, there is a deep river running down between Miguel and Esperanza. It could never be crossed. Their life - Esperanza had lived in the luxury however, Miguel had lived in the lower class. She is completly diffenent from Miguel so they can possibly marry eachother.

I think it’s very unfair because they like eachother but only because of different classes, they can’t marry. There is no rule that upper class people has to marry same class as them and lower class has to marry the toher lower class person.

But that was the life at that time so i guess i don’t have anything to help.
